Social Studies - World Geography and Community
In Social Studies with Ms. Mahato, we are learning about the community that we live in, New York City. In this lesson, we learned The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of America which represents freedom and opportunity. We labeled and identified the words: statue, tablet, robe, torch, and base. We then cut, pasted, and matched the words to the worksheet. Ms. Mahato also introduced skyscrapers which is another trait of the New York City community. This activity addresses the Scope and Sequence Social Studies Standards including World Geography and Community.
Students in grades K-2 have been busy learning about different community helpers that work to provide service to others. This week, children had fun creating a Postal Worker hat and sent a postcard to a friend. Stay tuned for more exciting Social Studies Adventures!
